Mid-Week Update: Cancellations and Pickups

The networks are currently in the process of making scheduling decisions for the back half of the 2008-09 season, so cancellations and pickups are being announced now. To no ones surprise, the fates cast the CW’s romantic comedy about Greek gods, Valentine, to oblivion. The show never even pulled a half of a rating point in the 18-49 demographic and only once made it above one million viewers.

It was also no surprise that NBC axed My Own Worst Enemy which never pulled better numbers in its 10 PM EST Monday timeslot than last year’s cancelled Journeyman. NBC also gave word to the production team of Knight Rider that it needs an overhaul. The series received a full season pickup a few weeks ago, but its numbers have yet to get out of low gear. The show will retool, drop some cast members, and try to get closer to the feel of the original series in an attempt to correct its course.

The Sci Fi Channel likes what it series from the performance of Sanctuary and has given it a pickup for a 13 episode second season. Production on that will begin early in 2009.

ABC has ordered the back nine episodes of Life on Mars, which has pulled decent numbers in its 10 PM EST Thursday timeslot, though it consistently loses a fair amount of the audience from its Grey’s Anatomy lead-in. No word yet from ABC on either Pushing Daisies or Eli Stone, both pn the bubble as they have underperformed in their sophomore seasons. The fans of Pushing Daisies continue to send letters, daisy seeds, and daisies to the network in an effort to convince them to keep the show on the air.

All of the other Science Fiction and Fantasy shows from the current season should be safe for now. Check back with us for any breaking updates in the coming weeks.

Sanctuary sucks I tried watching 3 episodes and flipped on all of them.
I mean just the premises that that little crew goes out and finds all those creatures and feeds them and houses them is just too time consuming for me it's like no one uses food or water or for that matter the bathroom. The man they recruited is retarded to say the least with some of the questions he ask at the most inopportune times. On a scale to one to ten I give it a 3.
My own worst enemy is pushing the logic of why would they screw with field operatives minds? It makes no sense but The show is cool I like it.Hell as far as that goes why not just pull people off the street and make them do things since you can mess with their minds like that?On a scale of 1 - 10 I'll give it a 6.5.Knight Rider couldn't keep me even watching the show.No one really gets hurt even with a 3 thousand pound 140 mph machine hitting them. That is so silly.Make the show more james bond like and it could go places but as is or making it like the old one is ZERO LAME.Put some more tits and ass with realistic fights for now I give it a 4.Now the old Babylon 5 got a 10 and the New Battlestar Galactica gets a 10.Other shows I like is LIFE 7 ,HEROES 7 ,THE SHIELD 8 ,THE MENALIST 7 ,WAS liking TRUE BLOOD but it's just got real corny losing interest 6 .Like DEXTER 7 .
Bullshit gets a 10 That show will make you stop and THINK, Penn and Teller will take on anybody give true facts which are sometimes so hard to get but by god they will get it.Now MYTHBUSTERS is that the coolest job or what? They get a 10 +.Love my News but Television news is so discombobulated into trash and OWNER opinion, that I only watch local news and take that with a grain of salt. The WEB has me Heart and Soul.ARRRH I see pirates as the rebellious civil disobedience that NEEDS to happen to stop the greedy from getting greedier.thanks for allowing me to rant, now go get some coffee and get back to work my fellow Slaves of the cubicles.

Why not make a show about cyber-pirates and take on the RIAA? The RIAA make the best bad guys They are taking something that never belonged to them Charging 300 times what its worth and telling people how the can use it after they buy it.That would be better than any reality show.
